Artist Statement

I have devoted countless hours working on artwork taking leaps that I never thought I could. I have learned to look past the object itself and see the shape in which it lies. I have learned to own my artistic mistakes and bring them to life in my piece itself. Through working with many different materials, I found a little bit more about myself within each piece, that I never thought about before. Searching for pieces that no one tends to search for. I found adventure in taking photographs and memories that lie within them. I found the beauty in painting an old worn down couch. Time management was found when my clay never seemed to be leather hard whenever I needed it to be. Turning old scrap pieces of metal into my own unique shape and form never knowing, I myself, could transform such a piece of material.

By the processes in my art classes, I have realized that there comes a point where the arts are an essential to everyone's life. My art may not representationally tell a story or metaphorically have a meaning, but I have found pure joy in creating artwork that not everyone may get to do or see. My work is that of a person who can’t help but to focus on the little things in life, for which I think make the bigger picture.
